{ SO THIS IS LOVE }

What an amazing day this was mentoring the beautiful Caroline Madsen from Montana.  Caroline was an incredibly fast learner who soaked every little thing up!  We had a few impromptu moments throughout our day as my models got caught in traffic due to a busy football game.  My daughter had to temporarily fill until our “real” models arrived!  Dustee and Andrew were so amazing.  We were left with only about 30 minutes of light and we were already dealing with an overcast dim day.  Good thing for knowing how to meter the light perfectly and nail exposure (this is a must)!  Dustee & Andrew just know how to work it and create chemistry together!  Oh, we all had fun throwing popcorn around and chewing wads of bubble gum!  I’m excited to reconnect with Caroline this summer for some really fun shooting!

This time of year makes me stop and reflect upon how much I love my little family, my extended family, my good neighbors and friends, photographers that I have the opportunity to connect with.  I hope you are all going to enjoy your special day with the one’s you love!

{ WHAT MAKING COOKIES LOOKS LIKE }

My daughter loves to help me in the kitchen, so this month for my lifestyle photography group I decided to capture her making cookies.  I bought her a cute little apron a few months back and thought it would be fun to get some little retro and vintage kitchen gadgets for the shoot.  I remember sifting flour for my mom with one of these same sifters!   I wanted her to just have fun and make a big mess, which she most certainly did!   She was all giggles the whole time!!  By the time we were finished shooting she said “this was the funnest day of my life”!  I guess I should let her do this more often!   These are the moments and the memories we are going to look back on and cherish forever and ever.

{ ELEVATE } A FINE ART PHOTOGRAPHY EXPLORATION

I am really excited about 2012!  All of the possibilities that lie ahead, the amazing people I will meet, adventures I will go on, photographs I will take, etc…  It’s been a challenge being part of two very different photography groups.  One of the groups is “lifestyle” and the other is more artistic and “fine art”.   My style really isn’t either of those, well at least not to me.  Maybe somewhere in the middle!  This month I am just using a single image, one of my favorite B&W’s.  I typically always choose color over B&W, but this image just called out for B&W.  Something so moody about this photo that I love.

Be sure to check out all the diverse talent in this group, starting with the compelling work of Jefra Starr Linn

{ WHAT THE BEACH LOOKS LIKE }

I was really struggling this month to know what to post for my lifestyle photography group.  I hadn’t shot any material, so I dug into my archives and decided to finish editing photos from our trip to California last year!  Oh we had so much fun!!  The kids had fun at places like Disney Land, but their favorite activity was going to the beach!  They had a blast making sand castles and riding on boogie boards!  Can’t wait to get back and do it all again!  These photos sure warm my heart and soul this time of year!  You can view some of my previous posts HERE or HERE!Keep the circle of eye candy going and check out the work of  Jules Trandem | San Diego Lifestyle Photographer
