{ NEVER ALONE }

I had so much fun last year around Halloween doing my Ghost/Angel session (click here to check it out), that I decided to do something similar again!   I had been brainstorming ideas for a while that involved an antique iron bed and shooting a couple.  My friend Amber from Old Main Photography was on board for all of my crazy ideas!  We shot in two locations this time.  One was an old warehouse and the other an old grain mill. Both places were magnificent!  The warehouse had these amazing large windows that let natural diffused light drench in.  The old mill is much more mysterious with it’s cob webs and dust.  It also has these very small little nooks and stair cases for taking photographs.  Lots of contrast between shadows and light.

The day of the shoot proved to be a bit crazy and hectic!  When I took the wings out of the box I realized that there was no way for them to be worn.  So I had to make a trip to the store to get elastic so that Dustee could slip them on.  Then after having to solve the last minute “wing” crisis, we drove all of the way to our location to shoot….and I forgot all of my camera equipment!  Or should I say I forgot my brain.  I mean…who does that?  How did that happen? …..Never the less, I broke some speed limits trying to get back and grab my gear  and make it back to where we would first shoot.  I always stress a little bit about running out of time.  As a natural light photographer there is only one thing that is important to me  and that is light.  Once it’s gone…it’s gone.  But even after all of the little hang ups, we had perfect lighting, plenty of lighting, and an overall very successful shoot.  Andrew and Dustee were really laid back and up for anything, very easy going, and made the session so fun!

This shoot was simply just a creative outlet for me.  It’s not meant to offend anyone.  For some it may be beautiful, provoking, emotional, enchanting, or otherwise stir positive  feelings.  For others, it may not be your cup of tea.  Whatever category you fall in, if this shoot gets you to think or feel anything, then I am happy.  I hope you enjoy….and Happy Halloween!

{ MISTY & TREVOR WEDDING }

Misty and Trevor….what a gorgeous couple.  So pleasant to work with  and so in love!  Trevor was such a gentleman and I loved watching the two of them interact with each other.  We had gorgeous sunshine outside the Salt lake Temple and through out the day.  The details were so beautifully put together at the Heritage Gardens.  It’s been a long time coming to get this post finally up!  Hope you enjoy this wedding and beautiful couple!

{ KENADEE }

I have oh so many beautiful photographs of the lovely miss Kenadee.  She is my go to gal when I’m in a pinch and need a model for a mentoring session.  She is such a photogenic girl, I just love having her in my back pocket!  I had an amazing day mentoring in person with Rayni Harper.  What a sweet down to earth gal!  It was a fun highlight getting her to feel comfortable shooting with wider apertures and how awesome her images turned out!  We really had a great day together going over everything from business, to editing, to our shoot with Kenadee.  These images have been done for ages now and I’m finally posting.

{ VINTAGE COCA-COLA }

I’ve decided to post my vintage Coca-Cola shoot for this months {elevate} fine art exploration photography group. I also wanted a chance to talk about this session and how it came about.  This was one of two stylized sessions I put together for the winner of last years World Wide Giveaway.  It was a giveaway where one person had the chance to win a 2 day workshop with me for FREE….all expenses paid!  The winner was Melissa Schuur (Sweet Life Photography) from Chandler Minnesota.  Let me tell you how down to earth, kind, and amazing Melissa is.  We had so much fun… I mean really….so dang much fun!  I guess I like to laugh a LOT, and it was non stop laughs with the two of us!  We really connected and I feel like I have made a friend for life.  Melissa had been practicing shooting in manual before she came out and so with just a little more direction and help she was off and running and nailing her exposures and comfortably shooting manual.  She had so many light bulb moments and it all seemed to sink in and come together for her!

I spent a lot of time planning this shoot in the months leading up to Melissa coming out.  I knew I wanted to do a fun vintage coke shoot and I knew exactly who I had in mind to use as models.  I can never go wrong with Madelyn and Justin.  You have seen them on the blog often and I am sure they will grace the blog many times in the future.  They are so easy to photograph and are so in love…and well unbelievably gorgeous, photogenic, and make my job easy!!  I found so many fun trinkets and props at local antique shops and much of the clothing came from designers off etsy.  Including the red dress from The Vintage Studio.  The weather was so unpredictable this day but the sun came out at just the right times to give us some beautiful light.  Will there be another World Wide Giveaway this year?….  I guess you’re just going to have to keep up with Crave in 2012 and find out!
