{ SCHOOLS IN SESSION }

I’ve been in a bind trying to think of what I could post for this months {Elevate} project.  Elevate is this really awesome photography group where we can post anything we feel is artistic and more on the fine art side of things.  I was going to pull something from my archives, but decided to just finish up my kids vintage back to school photos.  I get so side tracked with other projects and pressing deadlines, that often my kids photo shoots sit for far too long.  I think I like these images and portraits much better than a school “say cheese” photo!    These images of my kiddos mean the world to me.  They are growing like weeds and I don’t want to miss a thing.   Don’t forget….there are 12 amazing photographers in this group.  Click on over to see the amazing work of  Jennifer Nguyen | Snails and Pigtails Photography | Temecula, CA Photographer

Amazing. Where do you get the props? Do you just have them sitting in your house? Or do you trail second hand shops for stuff. I love it. x

Kristie F. - November 14, 2011 - 9:10 am

You are so creative. Very beautiful. . . loved looking at this.

Andee - November 14, 2011 - 3:05 pm

Keilah….I have to bribe them!! They are usually pretty good for me. But they do have a short attention span and run out of interest quick, so I have to work fast!

Andee - November 14, 2011 - 3:06 pm

I usually come up with a them and then make a list of what I will need and build around that. I do shop at quite a few local antique stores, second hand shops, and also get stuff off Etsy.

Tamara - November 14, 2011 - 6:12 pm

you always knock my socks off! I love detail, clothing detail in particular, and BOYS clothing especially since you just don’t see it done well that often. What gorgeous images!!

Amber - November 14, 2011 - 7:49 pm

I know you probably get asked this alot, but what do you shoot with? Your work is just stunning!. I know alot is done with photoshop, but your work in general is just so crisp.

Andee - November 14, 2011 - 7:59 pm

My shots look like everybody else’s strait out of camera work. It really is having the proper knowledge in PS. And I do also feel like having quality glass makes a HUGE difference. I shoot with a Nikon D700 and have various lenses. I shoot the very most with my 85mm 1.4 lens.

Sylvia - November 14, 2011 - 8:47 pm

Love this session! Those clothes are to die for!

fay - November 14, 2011 - 9:15 pm

I love every last bit of these! What time were these taken?

Andee - November 14, 2011 - 9:42 pm

Fay they were taken about 45 minutes before the sun went down.

jody - November 14, 2011 - 10:33 pm

Andrea - November 14, 2011 - 11:46 pm

Hi Andee,
Beautiful, as always! Could you by any chance tell me what is the name of the book from which you used those learning to read pages? I’m homeschooling my daughter and those totally caught my eye!
Thank you, Andrea

kamee june - November 15, 2011 - 10:54 am

These are all truly amazing!!! I just love all the killer vintage props! WOW!

Andee - November 15, 2011 - 11:04 pm

Andrea, I bought the single pages off Etsy. It was not a whole book, but rather a few pages.

Joy Stallard - November 16, 2011 - 5:25 am

Andee, you really are so inspiring with how you create a set with textures, gorgeous children, and just the perfect eye catching props. I love everything you do and that you take risks because it always pays off big to see things we haven’t seen before which is what keeps us all coming back again and again! Thanks for sharing your tremendous talent! xoxo Joy
