I’ve decided to post my vintage Coca-Cola shoot for this months {elevate} fine art exploration photography group. I also wanted a chance to talk about this session and how it came about. This was one of two stylized sessions I put together for the winner of last years World Wide Giveaway. It was a giveaway where one person had the chance to win a 2 day workshop with me for FREE….all expenses paid! The winner was Melissa Schuur (Sweet Life Photography) from Chandler Minnesota. Let me tell you how down to earth, kind, and amazing Melissa is. We had so much fun… I mean really….so dang much fun! I guess I like to laugh a LOT, and it was non stop laughs with the two of us! We really connected and I feel like I have made a friend for life. Melissa had been practicing shooting in manual before she came out and so with just a little more direction and help she was off and running and nailing her exposures and comfortably shooting manual. She had so many light bulb moments and it all seemed to sink in and come together for her!
I spent a lot of time planning this shoot in the months leading up to Melissa coming out. I knew I wanted to do a fun vintage coke shoot and I knew exactly who I had in mind to use as models. I can never go wrong with Madelyn and Justin. You have seen them on the blog often and I am sure they will grace the blog many times in the future. They are so easy to photograph and are so in love…and well unbelievably gorgeous, photogenic, and make my job easy!! I found so many fun trinkets and props at local antique shops and much of the clothing came from designers off etsy. Including the red dress from The Vintage Studio. The weather was so unpredictable this day but the sun came out at just the right times to give us some beautiful light. Will there be another World Wide Giveaway this year?…. I guess you’re just going to have to keep up with Crave in 2012 and find out!
