{ WHAT FALL TIME LOOKS LIKE }

I am now on month 3  of my 12 month photography project with a group of incredibly talented photographers from across the country.  The theme each month is “what _____ looks like”,  and we have to fill in the blank.  We each link to another photographer in the group until the circle of 12 is complete.  The assignment is to photograph our families in a lifestyle manner.

Well if there is one thing I have learned while in this group, it’s that I STINK at lifestyle photography.  Instead of getting better, I feel like I’m getting worse!!!  I tried to capture a bunch of fall photos of my children, but they were little monsters when we went to look at the leaves.  Then I had no memory card the day of the pumpkin patch.  So, I’m cheating this month.  I am posting a mixture of fall photos from last year and some from this year.  I tried to let my kids goof around, run, and play.  But I just can’t get rid of the portrait photographer in me.  Always looking for that perfect light, pose,  and moment.  So I think I have like 10% lifestyle and 90% portraits (lol)!  One of these days I am hoping I will improve at lifestyle photography, because I sure admire and enjoy the imagery of those who can so effortlessly pull it off!

I just love my kiddo’s so much!  Avery was very proud that she had a picture where she could show off her first missing tooth.  And Ethan is really diggin’ his “Lego” watch!   Keep the circle going….because you DO NOT want to miss the amazing work of Jules Trandem/ California Lifestyle Photographer

Your kids are gorgeous. I love their clothing too :) You are good at what you do. Your portraits are beautiful and the lifestyle that you did catch, just the same.

How fun!!! I think you did great at your stab of Lifestyle. :) Switching over from portraits was definitely a mental switch for me. Its a whole different mentality while you are shooting. I LOVE it so much better though. I’m SO not a portrait photographer when it comes to kids. haha

I LOVE your eye and your perfectionism! If it ain’t broke..don’t fix it;) When I see your work I don’t feel the need to put a label on it. It’s just inspiring and beautiful and has the ability to conjure emotions…the fruits of a true artist.

That is so nice to hear that another photographer admits to *stinking* at lifestyle! I just can’t do it! Whenever I have clients mention they’d like a “photojournalistic” style to their session I always make sure to remind them to view my site so they can see that I’m more of a poser:) This also makes it soooo fun when photographing my own 4 kids too…! They never pose very long for mom:)

These are darling, I made a HARD effort to switch photography styles and I still have a mix of both, Just keep working at it. I can honestly say I am more proud of my “imperfect” images than my staged perfection. I too am still trying to improve my lifestyle though.
